Why Are We Confident about Socialism with Chinese Characteristics?

Abstract: At present, China has made great achievements in development and acquired unprecedented hard power. But it has made inadequate efforts towards issues on political legitimacy and soft power development. In the future, it must size up the situation, take a strategic perspective, and effectively strengthen the whole society's confidence about the path, theory and system of socialism with Chinese characteristics. We need to discern the difference between socialism with Chinese characteristics and capitalism, adhere to the core value of serving the people, and mitigate the risk of growing social polarization. At the same time, we need to keenly grasp the connotation and advantages of socialism with Chinese characteristics, and always adhere to the principle of "doing two jobs at once and attaching equal importance to each" and pay equal attention to material progress on one hand and cultural and ethical progress on the other. We should develop market economy and be able to manage it; improve the people's livelihood, and strengthen development; and stay rooted in reality, and struggle for the ideal.
